Christine Vaindirlis grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa, and moved to Milan, Italy, at seventeen to pursue her passion for music. She was awarded a full scholarship to train as an opera singer at the Conservatorio di Milano Giuseppe Verdi while working in the corporate world, and later received the Berklee College of Music Achievement Scholarship, which brought her to Boston, Massachusetts.
After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2004 with a dual Bachelor of Music, cum laude, in Composition, Arranging and Production, and Performance as a voice principal, Christine moved to New York City to work at a commercial music and sound design production house while pursuing her career as a recording artist and offering tour management support for Telarc recording artist Hiromi. In 2009, Christine self-produced her first commercially released album, Dance Mama!, inspired by the essence and energy of South Africa, enriched by the reflection of where life had taken her and the Berklee experience that had pushed her creative boundaries further.
The cost of sustaining a career as an independent artist led Christine to pursue other avenues in the music industry, drawing on her corporate experience, musical background, touring experience, and wide-ranging production skills. Ubuntu World Music, inspired by Ubuntu’s meaning, “humanity to others,” reflects Christine’s belief in music as a language of connection, collaboration, and cultural exchange. Since 2008, it has grown into an artist services company providing Tour Management and Artist Support for established, world-class touring artists, with a focus on jazz and creative, original, jazz-influenced work.
Christine currently manages Grammy-nominated saxophonist and composer Melissa Aldana, and continues to provide tour management services for world-class touring musicians. Her current and past clients include Nduduzo Makhathini, Samara Joy, Stella Cole, Bria Skonberg, Monty Alexander, Hiromi, Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, Sofia Rei, and Malika Zarra, among others.
Today, Christine’s work bridges artist management, tour planning, production, and creative media, supporting artists with strategy, logistics, and execution.
